The National Survey of Student Engagement stated that transfer students reported less interaction with faculty, a less-supportive campus environment, less "active and collaborative learning," and fewer "enriching educational experiences.

More than 500 scholarships canceled by the administration at Mexican sister school Universidad de Las Americas-Puebla are being reinstated, ending three days of student protests, a student representative at UDLA said.
Susana Riestra, a fourth-year international relations major and member of the UDLA student council, said UDLA interim leader Arturo Langdon signed a document Monday restoring 571 scholarships following a two-hour negotiation meeting with a group of three UDLA student council members, two student protesters and two parents.

The SMU student senate passed a resolution Tuesday naming Peruna, the black Shetland pony, SMU's official mascot, ostensibly ending the controversy over the two new horses given to the university by philanthropist Madeleine Pickens.
Senate Membership Chair Jack Benage and Senator Jake Torres, a Peruna handler, said they were concerned a potential change in the mascot was not brought before the students and the greater SMU community.

The complete uniform is hidden in a large lockbox to be unlocked by one patron Sunday who punches in the correct code on an electronic lock and will receive a replica of the new jersey.

Folks, we've reached the end of the longest economic contraction since World War II: U.S. GDP expanded at an annual rate of 3.5 percent in the quarter that ended in September. For the first time in four fiscal quarters (six if you consider the GDP expansion in the second quarter of 2008 to be a blip), U.S. GDP is expanding, home sales are up, stocks are up and Wall Street is celebrating now that, by general definition, the recession is over.

Becoming an avid reader at a young age, I have a rather unusual appreciation for the building blocks of human communication. While many people dislike long words and often peg them as the discourse of the elite or stuck-up, I, by far, prefer "big words" (as they are called).
