NT Dallas students can pick up free passes today to ride the Dallas Area Rapid Transit system. DART stickers are available to attach to the student IDs of NT students enrolled in at least three hours on the Dallas campus. At the first public hearing for the 2007-08 City of Denton proposed budget, John Schneider, a representative of the Senior Citizens' Center, asked the council for $6,000 to be added to the center's transportation budget. There were 20 reports of leaking roofs and flooded basements Monday, according to the facilities maintenance office. NT students might see more Denton police officers when they visit the Denton square and the surrounding business district. The Denton Police Department will increase its visibility with the recently formed program, Square Crime and Traffic Team. Government Web sites never die - they just end up in the CyberCemetery. NT's libraries work with the Government Printing Office and the National Archives and Records Administration on a project that archives government Web sites. The project, the CyberCemetery, captures government Web sites before they are closed down and disappear, said Cathy Hartman, assistant dean to digital and information technologies. (0) comments
A new housing program aimed at increasing academic achievement lets students choose to live in major-specific dorms this fall. The Residents Engaged in Academic Living Communities program includes specially designated wings in Clark Hall for biology majors, Kerr Hall for communication design majors and Bruce Hall for jazz studies majors. Plans to develop a B.S. and M.S. degree in biological and environmental engineering are underway with implementation planned for fall 2008. Currently only a handful of schools in the world have a similar program.
