    Gov. Rick Perry has selected junior Meghan Vittrup to serve as the student regent on the UNT board of regents. Governor's office spokeswoman Krista Piferrer said the governor is excited about what Vittrup brings to the board. "Megan is an ambitious young lady who has shown leadership academically and is able to positively balance herself as a student and a professional. (0) comments

    Parking permit prices to rise

    Gas isn't the only commuter necessity going up in price. Students and faculty who park on campus may experience up to a $105 increase for permits starting in the fall. In a statement released by UNT parking services, parking permit "A" or reserved places, will increase by $105, and general "G" parking permits will increase by $15. (12) comments

    Rising gas prices spur search for alternative transportation

    Economists predict the price of one gallon of gasoline will average $4 this summer. A high price coupled with a recessive economy is leaving people looking for alternative transportation to save money where they can. "Gas prices are definitely the main reason I ride my bike to school," business junior Chris Byrd said. (2) comments

    Jimmy Li is a finance senior at UNT, the president of the Chinese Student Scholar Association and one of many people abroad with ties to the quake that tore through China in May. "My family contacted me, and they're OK," Li said. He said his family said no one they know is hurt, but there are still many people missing. (0) comments

UNT is listed on the second annual President's Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll. Dr. Costas Tsatsoulis is currently serving as the dean of the College of Engineering at the University of Kansas.     A UNT police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested by Denton police on family violence assault charges. On the morning of May 17, Denton police responded to a 911 call from the residence of Sgt. Leonard Lee "Trey" Logan III, age 31. "Logan was charged with assault causing bodily injury," Denton police officer Lt. (1) comment
