    According to voting analysts, Texas youth have election fever. After collecting data from the 2008 primaries, The Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement said the voter turnout rate for young people ages 18 to 29 in Texas nearly tripled from the year 2000, rising from 6 percent to 17 percent of the total voter turnout.     While construction on the Fry Street Village remains stalled, students and local business owners said they want to see something done. CopyPro Copy Center owner Al Glidewell said he has lost business since the demolition. "It needs to be rebuilt with some commercial buildings, anything that is retail and that will bring people back down here," Glidewell said. (32) comments

    Denton lounges cater to hookah fans

    As the first weekend of the fall semester approaches, UNT students who went out of town or back home will return to their local haunts. Applied arts and sciences senior Ryan Claterbaugh said he looks forward to the first weekend of each new semester. Claterbaugh is a frequent customer at Denton's hookah bars and plans on reuniting with his friends there in the upcoming weekends. (1) comment

    The North Texas State Fair and Rodeo is commemorating its 80th anniversary and celebrating "The Cowboy Way" this year Aug. 15 to 23 The fair will be at 2217 N. Carroll Blvd. and will feature a variety of entertainment such as concerts, horse shows, contests, tournaments and a carnival with rides. (0) comments
