NT's Parking and Transportation services have increased the price of parking permits and several parking fines by as much as $150. The first increase since fall 2001, violations for illegally parking in visitor parking spaces will increase by $5, the fees for removing a boot and towing increased by $50 and the fine for illegally parking in a handicapped space increased by $150, said Scott Kangas, associate director of NT's parking services Andrew Harris, vice president for finance and administration, said the reason for the increase is due to rising costs of construction supplies and labor. NT is the first university in the Dallas-Fort Worth region to sign the College Board's CollegeKeys Compact. The College Board, best known for its implementation of the SAT and other higher education testing, launched the CollegeKeys Compact in order to mobilize a collective effort of its more than 5,000 members to help students from low-income situations prepare for and succeed in college. The staff compensation study will not lower anyone's pay on campus. In fact, it may raise some staff members' salaries. New researcher on board for Discovery Park On Sept. 2, Rick Nader joined the NT Discovery Park staff in order to extend the universityís recognition in the research and grant fields.
