For five hours on Saturday more than 200 children and their families experienced what it is like to ride on a hovercraft and shoot off rockets. Outside of the Environmental Education, Science and Technology Building the children used soda bottles, water and air pressure to fire off their homemade experiments at Space Frontier, which included the viewing of the meteorites discovered by NT observatory manager Preston Starr and NASA Space Ambassador Ron DiIulio last month in West, Texas. When members of World Echoes, an NT group that promotes diversity and knowledge of all cultures, attended a private showing of "Slumdog Millionaire," it sparked differing responses among its members. Old band fliers, cassette tapes, photos, CDs, articles and more are gathered at the Emily Fowler Library highlighting the musical history of Denton. Chuck Voellinger, a library assistant, said he came up with the idea and put the display together. With the help of area musicians, friends and other collectors like himself, he was able to collect and organize more than 20 years worth of history in a display called "Denton Calling: 30 years of Indie and Alternative Music.
