  • 9-11 disaster relief worker to speak today

    Emergency Manager Richard Lohr, who led the 9-11 disaster relief of the crash of Flight 93 in Pennsylvania and the coal miners’ rescue in July, is scheduled to speak at today’s Disaster Education Day.

    Lohrwill speak about his experiences with disaster relief and answer audience questions at 1:30 p.m. in the Gateway Center.

    The day kicks off at 9:30 a.m. in Gateway Center 43 and is followed by a presentation by Billy Zwerschke, immediate past-president, and Daryl Spiewak, the president-elect of the International Association of Emergency Managers.

    After a short break Ben Taylor, president of Disaster Recovery Institute International, will speak at 10:45 a.m.

    A question and answer session will follow the presentations.

    At 2:30 p.m., a panel discussion on the importance of regional coordination of emergency management will be headed by disaster planning professionals from the Metroplex.
