Graduation. It's the goal we all hope to achieve one day, and for a lucky handful, this time of year is when that goal becomes a reality. All the classes, all the professors and all the years have amounted to that degree that seemed so distant freshman year. Congratulations to this semester's graduates.
After hours. Dead week and finals week are two of the most stressful and trying times for students. Fortunately, during this time, the first floor of the Willis Library is open later, available to help students with their studying needs.
Dallas athletics. This year, Dallas sports teams have done extremely well, all except the Dallas Cowboys, of course. The Dallas Stars have won their first NHL Stanley Cup playoff series against the Edmonton Oilers. The Dallas Mavericks have gone into the NBA playoffs winning their first game in their series Saturday against the Portland Trailblazers. If only the Cowboys and Texas Rangers could hop on the bandwagon.

No more dial-up. NT's dial-up internet service will be discontinued after Aug. 31 because of lack of funding for the popular free service. Without the service, students will now have to pay in order to subscribe to a commercial service. The university should have worked harder to keep and update the system, rather than let it die out.
Eagle Express canceled. During the transition period to another service, the Eagle Express system in which a student identification card doubles as a charge card has been terminated. Students who have put down payments into the service now must rely on carry cash without the safety of the program.
No crosswalk light. Students walking across Hickory Street need a crosswalk signal at the intersection with Avenue B. The frequented intersection on more than an occasion has poses a serious threat to student crossing to access restaurants and businesses. The city should immediately implement a crosswalk light for students' safety.
