NT Police and university officials are still investigating last week's cases of two aggravated robberies, including one that occurred on campus.
"No identities have been made," said Ed Reynolds, deputy chief of the NT Police Department.
A man was robbed and assaulted on the west side of the University Union on Oct. 31 by three suspects. One carried a gun, according to NT Police.
Four suspects robbed another man approximately one hour later near the 1000 block of Dallas Drive. They were also armed.
NT Police suspect the incidents are connected. The four suspects involved in the Dallas Drive robbery are described as black males in their 20s.
One of the suspects is 6 feet 1 inch tall and weighs 250 pounds. Another is around 5 feet 8 inches with a slender build. According to police reports, the suspects' vehicle is a silver van with an unknown license plate.
"We do believe the robbery on campus is linked to the robbery the Denton Police are working on," Reynolds said.
He added that, since the robberies, NT Police have increased night patrols around the inner campus.
Rebekah Wolf, Houston senior, said she has not seen additional police vigilance since the robberies occurred.
"I haven't noticed many more police on campus," she said, adding that she tends to travel around the Union the most.
Wolf also said more lighting is a necessity at night.
"I typically don't feel safe anywhere on campus by myself," she said.
Marcedes Fuller, San Antonio sophomore and Student Government Association director of relations, communication and marketing, said the SGA is cooperating with NT Police to evaluate campus safety.
SGA members will be conducting on-campus evaluations "to address the welfare concerns" of students, he said.
While security measures have tightened across campus, there have been discussions about additional security measures for the university, including the implementation of security cameras inside and around the Union.
"A proposal for the cameras is going through right now to the board," said Michael Aaron, Montgomery, Ala., senior and assistant night manager for the Union.
Aaron said only security notices were posted at the Union following the robberies.
"No one [employed at the Union] has been told to take any precautions officially," he said.
The Union closes every night at 10 p.m., and all employees usually leave the building by 11 p.m.
Mary Finley, assistant director for the Union, said she feels safe.
"The police are typically here in five to 10 minutes," Finley said.
"The presence of the police is frequent in the Union during the day. We have a very vigilant police department for campus security issues."
The investigation is still open to tips from students and local residents. Anyone with information can call NT P olice's criminal investigations division at (940) 565-3006 or leave an anonymous tip at (940) 369-TIPS (8477).
Students are advised to be wary of their surroundings, travel with a friend or in groups and walk in well-lit areas.
