Democratic party sabotage their own candidates

As the '08 presidential campaign begins to pick up speed, I can't help but wonder what the heck the Democrats are doing. Now if you ask the average Democrat, they would tell you they desperately want a Democrat in the White House in '08, but if you observe the actions of the Democratic Congress, it looks as if they are purposely sabotaging themselves. Here are two clear examples of this sabotage.
The first is the emergency supplemental bill that was passed last week. The Democrats hailed this as "a historic event," but in reality, the bill has no chance of being signed by the President, because it contains a withdrawal date, giving our enemy a chance to just hold out until we leave. The Democrats feel that the American people are fed up with Iraq, which they are. But they fail to realize that the American people understand that giving our enemy the date we are going to withdrawal would only embolden our enemy and make the chance of success in Iraq unreachable.
But the Democrats charge ahead with more rhetoric, saying "the President is vetoing the will of the people." The American people are not foolish; they realize that the Commander in Chief and his generals make the policy, not Congress. The longer the Democrats play this game with our military, the more risk they take in alienating the American people.
The second is the proposed budget for 2008. This budget has the largest tax increase in history: roughly 400 billion dollars worth of new taxes over five years. Now the last time the Democrats tried to raise taxes was in 1993 and look what happened. The Republicans destroyed them in the '94 election.
To break down this tax increase on a personal level, here are some figures that put it into context. For a family of four earning $60,000 per year, taxes would go from $3,030 to $4,823. For an elderly couple earning $40,000 per year, taxes would go from $583 to $1,489. Eighty-three million women could see their taxes rise by an average of $2,068. If you're married, your taxes could increase by $2,899.
Now do you really think the citizens of this great nation are going to vote for a president who would raise taxes? I don't think so.
If the Democrats are serious about winning the '08 presidential election, they should pass the supplemental bill without a deadline and promise not to raise our taxes. If they decide to ignore my advice, all Republicans should rejoice in their ignorance and welcome the next Republican president of the United States.

Sure, except all the polls indicate six-in-ten Americans support (http://www.pollingreport.com/iraq.htm) the timeline for getting troops out of Iraq in 2008 - be it March or April. (Continued…)
