Tuition rebate cheats well-rounded students

I'm glad that the state and the university are encouraging students to graduate on time, but the state has taken it too far - they're encouraging students to graduate on time and do the minimum amount of work possible. When I called the registrar's office to ask about the stipulation and the reasoning behind such an outrageous requirement, I was told that the state "has to draw the line somewhere." I guess they draw it at the students who have enhanced their education in the past four years.
Well, I applied for the rebate anyway. In the famous words of Kinky Friedman, "why the hell not?" In my rejection letter, Ben Dearman, associate registrar, did however thank me for applying. In fact, he commended me on my "hard work while at NT." I suppose that was meant to make up for the empty space where my loveseat would be.
In case you were wondering what my one extra hour was: soccer.
