Stepping aboard the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus is like stepping into a musician's dream realized.
The bus is all nonprofit and funded by corporate sponsors like Sony, Apple and Maxell, said Tyler Winick, producer and engineer on the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.
Almost every surface displays a different company's emblem.
There are drums spilling into the main aisle, a long red couch and every bit of wall space is covered by high tech equipment.
"In eight hours, students can write and record a music video," Winick said, "It's a professional recording."
The bus was parked in front of the University Union Tuesday while the local band Snarky Puppy recorded.
On Wednesday, tours were allowed from 10 a. m. to 5 p. m. The bus will return to NT today and Saturday for the North Texas Battle of the Bands.
The fully equipped traveling studio will be the site of a music video filmed for one band chosen as winner of the Battle of the Bands.
The competition, to be held at 7 p.m. tonight at the Murchison Performing Arts Center, will showcase six finalists who aspire to win the opportunity to film a music video and a professional recording session in the John Lennon Educational Tour Bus.
The competition began Feb. 25 when entries were due, said Michael Clayton, executive director and cofounder of the Texas Music Project.
From 32 entries, six were chosen. Five were chosen by judges and one by a popular vote.
Frisco based trio "The September Days" won the popular vote.
The band features Colby Domino on guitar and vocals, Blake Boysen on bass and Rob Monge on drums.
The band formed in early January when Domino, who had previously been a solo artist, contacted Monge. Domino said the two played music together in the past, so when he wanted to put together a group, he immediately thought of Monge.
Domino and Monge began writing songs and wanted to compete in the Battle of the Bands in Anna.
