A UNT police officer is on administrative leave after being arrested by Denton police on family violence assault charges.
On the morning of May 17, Denton police responded to a 911 call from the residence of Sgt. Leonard Lee "Trey" Logan III, age 31.
"Logan was charged with assault causing bodily injury," Denton police officer Lt. Lenn Carter said. "On our end, it's still a criminal case. We'll have to wait until the NT police finish their investigation."
According to court documents, the Denton dispatcher overheard crying and screaming and a man yelling death threats in the background. The tape is under review to decide whether it should be released and used as evidence.
"The university cannot comment on the arrest of Logan until internal investigations are complete," UNT spokesman Robert Lee Price said.
Assault causing bodily injury and family violence is a Class A misdemeanor punishable by up to one year in prison, a fine of up to $4,000 and possible revocation of a police license.
Logan was released after posting $1,000 bail.
Deputy Chief of Police Ed Reynolds was unavailable for comment at press time.
