Paul Hunter, a 10-year employee of the UNT Bookstore and alumnus, died Saturday at age 40.

Bill Mills with the Tarrant County medical examiner said Hunter's cause of death is pending.

Shawn Bourdo, assistant manager of the UNT Bookstore, said he worked with Hunter since 2003.

"It's kind of tough to talk about because it was so sudden,"Bourdo said. "He was a really wonderful, caring guy to work with, whose employees were really dedicated to him."

According to Hunter's obituary, he attended Baylor University before coming to NT and graduating. He became the shipping and receiving manager for the bookstore in 1998.

Bourdo said Hunter had an eclectic personality and connected with employees and students by being well-versed in several subjects such as science fiction and philosophy.

"He really liked an eclectic type of music that you would hear down in the shipping area,"Bourdo said. "He was really a well-rounded individual that was just a pleasure to work with."

Services will be held at 1 p.m. today at New Hope Funeral Home in Sunnyvale, near Mesquite.
