The Daily had the chance to interview Mark Wahlberg about his new action flick "Max Payne," which opens in theaters today.
Q: What aspects of the script helped you to decide that you wanted to do "Max Payne"?
A: Well, I just thought that I would be great in the role. I get to go off. After doing movies like "The Happening" and "The Lovely Bones," I was in need of doing something very physical.
Q: Did you do any preparations like working out or anything for this film?
A: No, no. I have done a lot of stuff where I have had weapons training and stuff like that so it was just a matter of, you know, forcing myself to think about horrible things happening to my family.
I had to be in that headspace every day for 12 hours a day. That wasn't a lot of fun, but I do what I do.
Q: Did you do any of your own stunts?
A: Yeah, but I hate actors that say, "Oh I am so cool. I did my own stunts." They are all full of crap, you know? But yeah, I did what was required of me.
We actually shot a lot of stuff on film, aside from jumping in the freezing lake, you know, but I had to go in the tank and stuff, which was equally cold. It didn't have steam coming off, so you could tell it wasn't heated.
