The results of NCAA drug testing of 20 members of the NT football team on Sept. 30 did not lead to any sanctions of NT athletes, according to information obtained through the Freedom of Information Act.
The information also shows that the NCAA tested 18 NT football players during the spring 2008 semester. Results showed that one athlete tested positive and became ineligible.
"The NCAA does their testing, and their follow-up is their responsibility," athletics director Rick Villarreal said.
Because of information protection by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act and NT policy, university officials declined to release any additional information, including the names of the tested players.
Villarreal said that the positive result from the spring "had no effect on this year's team."
