Thursday nights in Denton usually consist of students running around Fry Street in celebration of "College Night."
Bars are filled with students chatting about their classes and drinking their exam anxiety away, but one bar gives students the chance to dance their stress away.
Just off the square you can find Hailey's Club hosting '80s Night every Thursday.
"'80s Night has been around for about five years," bar manager Justin Bernard said.
Bernard has been a bartender at Hailey's for about two and a half years, experiencing '80s Night first-hand from behind the bar.
"I think it has lasted so long because of our DJ. He does a really good job taking requests and plays rare stuff I have never even heard."
The DJ plays everything from Madonna to Run-DMC, taking requests all night from attendees whether they are wearing their street clothes or dressing in their '80s attire.
"People wear some great outfits and the dancing cracks me up," Bernard said. "Anybody who wants to go out on a Thursday night can find a good crowd at Hailey's."
Marketing junior Matt Decuir can be found at '80s Night at least once every month.
"I like going to '80s Night because I love the atmosphere and the type of people that go there," he said. "It's much more carefree compared to a normal club."
Dances like those seen at the end of "The Breakfast Club" or during "Sixteen Candles" are commonplace at '80s Night.
"You can dance however you want to," Decuir said. "I would definitely recommend people to go to '80s Night."
Like many groups of people that go to these various events, '80s Night deserved its spot as a facebook group for those die-hard dancers.
"'80s Night is the reason I decided to go to UNT," English junior Annie Earnest said. "I go as much as I can."
The club itself bears no '80s décor, but when you make it out to the dance floor, you will suddenly find yourself dancing under a disco ball.
"It's silly, crazy dancing, not just booty dancing," Earnest said.
The club opens at 9 p.m. but the crowd usually comes in around 11 p.m., costing $5 for minors and free for those 21 and older.
"'80s Night is my favorite thing to do," Earnest said. "It's really the funnest thing I've ever done in my whole life."
